Iain Morrison of Cumbernauld - 2/4 Competition March

Composed for Iain Morrison originally of Cumbernauld, but a long-time resident of the Sheltland Islands, and sometimes pipe-major of the Lerwick British Legion Pipe Band. A great lover of music in all kinds and shapes, and an encouragement to me. -David. only the BMW Gold file uploaded I see--will t...

Har Qarqoom - Slow Air

Named for a mountain in the southern Negev desert of Israel, near the Egyptian border. A prime candidate for the Biblical Mt Sinai of Moses and the Ten Commandments fame.

The Fingerstorm

The era of the eight-parted jig is here to stay. Get a hold of some Irish cloggers and have some great fun with this jig.

Sounds great on the pipe chanter scale--the lower pitch midi sound hides the strength of the notes a bit. This would be great in an Irish set. Nice piece of music!

A nice, driving hornreel indeed (could be reel or hornpipe--these days who can tell them apart stylistically?). Gives a lot of power without asking too much of the fingers. Good job--and not just for a second tune. Don't forget to compose a few pointed marches, and some light, highly melodic airs in...

P/M Julius Collins (Pipes, Wurlitzer & Fiddle)

Composed for the birthday of a gentleman nearing ninety years of age, who began piping in Glasgow in the mid-1930s. This setting was done with Sibelius, and uses harmony designed for non-piping accompaniment.

I think he'll have his website up and tunning soon--but meanwhile, this site (same as the one I listed above) has other photos of his work and contact information.

Tim Gellaitry Highland Pipes - New Design

I have played Tim's pipes for a few years now. I also have a nice photo collection of his work. Well worth taking a glance. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg11/mrcygl/gellaitry4.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg11/mrcygl/gellaitry8.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg11/mrcygl/gella...

The Windybag Man

Jig which was actually a 4/4 march I composed, which I didn't much like at all. I sent it to Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon, and after a long night of radical pruning and significant rearrangement, it was transformed into a jig. Still a little tender around the nose holes, so not too fast.

This one came so easily to me that I'm suspicious
of it's possible similarity to something I may have hear.
This would go well with something like Sandy's New Chanter. It sounds very nice. I can't say that I've heard it before, myself.

And His Rest It Shall Be Glorious (With Harmony)

Here is an Israeli-Scottish collaboration.

If you can tune your practice chanter to BMW output, you can play with the harmony.

Thanks,

Not to worry--I certainly wasn't bothered or offended in any way! Actually, if you want to see tremendous reduplication of known phrases look at the classical heavy 2/4s. After an original frst, and maybe second part, the variations revert to standard forms for whole phrases. Yet the best of the man...
