Nice work Simon. Good idea to choose a 4/4 - keeps it accessible to all your bands. Nice playing last night too, especially the final hornpipes. Hot stuff! I suggest you look for more public speaking opportunities to help improve your confidence when you aren't blowing - people want to hear what you...

totally rockin'
Great tune Ben, and in my favourite key.
I love the catch phrase in bar 4 of each part. The bounce notes - eg low a's in part3/bar1 and low g's in part3/bar 2 - give a great effect.
Keep 'em coming

I wrote this for my tutor - the name of the tune is her email address.
What do you think? Does it work?

Another two parts
I was humming this tune to myself on the bike the other day and I found myself humming two more parts, so here they are all together.

Rainy Night on Curletts Road
I'm not sure if this really counts as a hornpipe, but I can't think how else to classify it. The tune came into my head as I was motorcycling home one rainy night after work. Curletts Road is a short stretch of open road on my regular commute. On a busy rainy night it's an invigorating ride. I hope ...

I think this was my favourite of the four as well. I changed the second part to use the second half of the first part on its repeat (2 of 2) - I think it brings the theme back as the tune finishes. I also loved The Nippler. That second part has a real drilling/driving effect that works well. Bloody ...

Thanks for the tip on the bmw formatting. I use Electric Pipes to play my tunes back because the sound is more like real pipes. I guess it must be a little more forgiving on the formatting. I guess every line should start with a bar line? Thanks also for the positive comments on the tune. That means...

Down in the moss pit
Here's a four-part jig with a bit of syncopation - if you've already tried "Cock, Hook and Look" then you'll know that I like syncopation! The name of this one came about when my teenage daughter went to her first rock concert - my wife asked her what it was like down in the moss pit (mosh pit!). Le...

Cock, Hook and Look
This is a four-part jig, but parts 1&3 and 2&4 are quite similar, so think of it as a two-parter with variations. Cock, Hook and Look is the stop-firing drill used in the NZ army when your self-loading rifle stops: Cock the rifle, hook the moving parts back, look inside the chamber. The SLR is now r...
