I'm no piobaireach player, or lover for that matter.

I wrote this after nearly a year of keeping it in my head. It just had to come out. I claim it to be a lamentation, nothing more. I find it calming and rewarding to have composed, but make no claims beyond that, except to say it is from my heart. I have been encouraged to complete this piece with th...

Great tune, mate, with one change necessary I think. Your tune is in quick triple time, which is, by definition, a Scherzo, so you can categorise your tune as such, and there won't be many of them around. Will see what the guys in my band think when we get back in the new year, we are looking for so...

Agree with the comments above, Mike, from clanpiper, but all is not lost. I enclose a copy of the tune with the 4th part 1st bar 2nd beat altered to suit the HG that clanpiper doesn't like, but now sounds fine I think. I have also added a dg in the appropriate places in the bars to help with timing,...

The Gathering - Highland Games tribute

More of a tribute to the valiance of the smaller Highland Games for continuing to attract the support to enable themselves to perform each year. I refer to the likes of the Strathardle Games, very small and secluded up North East of Pitlochry but still holding fast under the competition from the lar...

Changes

Well, Elias, what changes indeed. I have set the BWW out a bit better (lost the 6/8 from each line. I have also included a copy of the layout of the text, which for me helps me locate a bar or a note in a bar easily as the text is spaced out between beat groups (usethe TAB or even put in the word 's...

Black Watch Army Cadet Force P&D's 2006

Here's a recent picture of the Black Watch Army Cadet Force P&D's on a visit to France. As it was November, our regimental jerseys were appropriate. A good time was had by all in France, playing at a few unusual places and helping internatinal relations with the French people into the bargain. We pa...

Always keen to come home to Scotland

Recently I have been able to travel abroad with the Army Cadet Force and while it was a great visit to France and all that, it was nice to come home to Scotland again. I will no doubt continue to travel, but even when visiting relatives in the other corners of the UK, it is nice to see the 'SCOTLAND...

The journey from Newton Sewart to Ayr one summers day 2003

First time I'd been on this route to Ayr, lovely drive and inspiring to the point of this tune. Have posted this tune before, I notice, but I have been on this route a few times since and it's still a nice drive. :)

small tip

Hi, don't think me forward, but the 'brl' you have in the first part of this tune is much easier to play if it is an 'abr' instead. Nice tune as well.

let the gracenotes play their full part in the tune.

Guys & Gals, how many times do any of you out their who are tutors preach about opening the gracenotes so that pupils can hear them or can learn to play the gracings properly? Yet, how many time do we see the bww tunes with gracenotes that are hardly audible? Solution, set the gracenote duration to ...

THE Sharps at the beginning of the bww tunes is not needed

People of Viperpiperland, hear me. Look at all of my compositions and you will see that the sharps and flats are missing at the beginning of the piece, and from every line thereafter. Download any one and you will notice that it will still play in key. How is this, I hear you ask. Well, go into CONF...

dedication to an ex Black Watch Army Cadet Force Padre

You should've seen 4 o' us in this wee micra - Me (the pipey), the Drummy, wee Annie frae Turriff and the padre - the speed bumps were a laugh - specially in reverse. You had tae be there! Please leave any critique if you wish, good or bad, it all helps the composing curve towards being able to real...

PEACE - Finally?

I wrote this out of a wee bit of frustration and despair at the continuing conflicts throughout the lands - there is always something. Let's just give it a rest - says I. there is a harmony onthe repeated part - if anyone likes the tune enough, i can send it to them. Please leave critique if you wis...
