Had a malfunctioning web site link to this tune, so I want to fix it up before reloading the tune. Soon... Everything's back in place. The first part is now my other, second choice, so that's changed. As far as connections to Sleepy Maggie, no consciuos one. I knew it as an old two-parter, but I hav...

david n. siegel wrote:That second part comes off nicely. The first part is blander, but, that can be a nice intro effect to more jazz following parts. I'd flesh it out with a low-hand 3rd part and a 4th part that takes off wherever you like. You've given us a taste--now fill up the cup!
Thanks for the tune,
-David.

Well, I guess I'd have to leave to Americans to decide if this melody works or not. It follows the notes in some phrases, but not in others. Just when a certain note is expected, the audience gets something else. The people of many nations can be very attentive about something so symbolically import...

THE MERRY MOHEL -- A new "cutting-edge" hornpipe
I have great fun playing this. The tune appears rounded, but has a pointed melody that dances in and around the High and Low A's. Started on it 30 years ago, and just finished it off a few days ago.
Cheers All,

THE MERRY MOHEL - A Hornreel
Get yourself a great, blended High A, warm up the pipes, and let her rip.
A "happy" tune, offerred for the Hebrew New Year 5768, which begins at sundown on 12 September.

A CUP OF TREMBLING - Piobiareachd in Progress
This tune notated somewhat like Roderick Ross' tunes in Binneas Is Boreraig. Literally, according to note values desired in actual expression. I am not done, and I am sure that there are a few notational errors yet. But I believe that an experienced student of piobaireachd could understand the melod...

This thread has been quiet for a while, but I'll make a few comments anyway. I am a fan of Roderick Ross' style of notating piobaireachd as illustrated in his collection BINNEAS IS BORERAIG . For those who are not familiar with this work, the tunes are written out with the actual duration of all not...

Nice forward drive! Maybe a "left side" which adds a little harmonic interest. Do you consider this a hornpipe? Hornreel? A round 4/4 march? I think some of the new style hornpipes are almost round 4/4 marches, as they often hit a melodic peak at a moderate tempo rahter than fast. This one of yours ...
