Rockin' it!

Folks, within this tune there is a rhythm (naturally!) and within the rhythm there is a certain rhyme.

Each part has a different rhyme within the rhythm.

You just need to stare (listen with your eyes) at it a few dozen times, you'll get it eventually.

I'm not so sure the world is ready for this!

Fettling the parlour

Fettling, in this case, means tidying/ sorting.

And that's all there is to it, except nothing got sorted, just repositioned, such is life.

This year's hols was camping at Moffat and this wee tune was in anticipation of that trip.

Re: Tempering the Steel

Well, as the description of the posting, it just gave me the feeling of the industrial processes that have to go on in the background to keep towns and countries ticking over. Not always easy to get a feel for a tune and it's definitely personal, but it is what it is. I just hope it's worthy of an a...

Re: Tempering the Steel

Cheers, Dan. Even my son, an ex snare drummer, liked the 3rd & 4th part. There's hope for us all

Tempering the Steel

What can I say, this is a wee tune for all those industry workers, the industry that gives the infrastructure of any country the ability to function. :)

Wee Tommy's Adventure

I wrote a poem about a wee boy's first airship flight earlier this year. The wee boy, Tommy, was so excited that, despite the trials and tribulations of the maiden voyage, he fell asleep with the nervous tension and slept through the whole affair. Anyhoo, out of that came this wee tune also. Wee Tom...

In the Strangest Places

Wrote this one a few months back, not been on the site for a wee while, so two together. Aint it funny where you think of a tune - on abus, in the car, in the smallest room (or is that just me? - Yikes!), etc. Well, I have had to whistle things into my mobile phone recorder before now to deal with a...

The South Esk Ghillie

I used to live on the banks of the River South Esk, at the bothy near Brechin, Angus, over 40 years ago. Fond memories of the fishing and the Ghillie keeping the river stocked and securing the stock from poachers and the night expeditions to shoot rabbit, hare and deer, conservation in operation to ...

Courage, Paris

It is perhaps so easy to write a sad tune at this time, but I felt that would not give strength to those in their time of need.

It's a mad, mad world, that the human race can boast of its progress, when some have the mind to cause this kind of shamefulness.

I hope I am not alone in this view.

Galashiels

Ok, so i may one day get around to composing tunes for many more of the nice wee villages & towns of the Borders. For now, I am sticking to those I visited in the spring, of which Galashiels was one.

St Marys Loch

3rd attempt to upload files. OK, the titles are without the appostrophe in Mary's, as the files uploader did not like it. :!: No biggy, just renamed the files. Something to remember for the future, eh?. Anyway, lovely drive down the west coast of the Loch, great scenery, stopped for ice cream (as yo...

Ken The Horse?

Well, folks, another in my Spring 2015 Hols tune collection. The best way to explain this is to direct you to the website which already existed before I wrote the tune and subsequently investigated and found a site dedicated the subject of my tune. Check the Bagpipe Tune link from the menu and the s...

Crossing the Gala Water

As i said, there would be more to come from my Easter 2015 hols in the Borders of Scotland and here's one more at least. The wee town of Galashiels (Gala) was one visited often for provisions and when passing through and to have a nice Chines buffet meal, as one does, so we had to cross Gala Water m...

The Pass of Moffat Dale

Hey, what a delight to be able to write a tune about a recent experience, namely hols to the Border country of Scotland. As per the usual Scottish weather, there was hail, wind, rain and snow all in one day, but mostly quite nice over the course of a week and a visit to the Grey Mare's Tail waterfal...
