The Sow's Trot to the Potato Hole

Post by Warpiperman » Wed Sep 07, 2011 3:32 am

My friend, Peter Hearty named this tune. When he heard the tune, he though of an expression in Ireland, where he's from, that described the walk of a pig to the hole in the ground where the farmer throws food scraps.

I originally wrote this out as a 4/4, but after playing it a few times, I realized it is a 2/4. Just changed it.

Our Irish band plays Sow's Trot slow, with most repeating first part, 2nds repeating second part. Then, with a slow two note entry, go to a very fast tempo for the same arrangement of parts. This sounds great and we have had many complements on it! Thanks, Terence!
