Bruce's Stone, Moss Raploch
In March 1307, Robert the Bruce was hiding from the English forces in the surrounding hills.
He discovered an English force sleeping on Moss Raploch and attacked them.
After the English were defeated the Scots picked over the dead bodies looking for weapons and booty.
Whilst his troops were doing that, Robert is said to have rested against this stone.
The actual site of the battle is now covered by the reservoir of Clatteringshaws.
