TIM GELLAITRY HIGHLAND PIPES (4-pt. 2/4 March)

Named for a friend who makes great pipes, and who was working as a pipe-maker with Wm Sinclair & Son when my Sinclairs were made. By coincidence, he once spent some months as a kibbutz volunteer not too far away from where I live now in central Galilee, but before I knew him.

This march is for those who like the heavy sort of 2/4, which I do of course, or I wouldn't compose them. Not that it sounds heavy to the ear when played nicely.

Tim is a Stirling pipe maker, where he also lives and works.

Please enjoy.
-David.

Good, melodic 2/4 marches are tough to write. I think this, along with
Journey to Holbaek are very nice pieces of music and my favourite of your marches. Looks like a handful, but eventually I might have to
play them. They tend to go around in my head at unexpected times--
a good sign :-)
