Nice tune........but......the timing is off in the first part......you are LIGHT one 1/8th note......that is why it sounds rushed.......nice underlying rhythm though.......once you fix it the way you want it to sound it should be a real nice tune.......Mark

Birl timing challenge

Some of those birls will be tough to time in unison playing, even in moderate reel tempo. You have hG-birls, lA-birls, and lG-birls, some from less-than-ideal attack points. Timing all these in unison playing so that they still sound like birls won't be easy. I am surprised how often professional level competitors show weakness in making clean birls from tricky positions in uptempo playing. (Similar to the problem of the sluggish B in the crunluath off D in piobaireachd.) Obviously solo playing gives a little more leeway.

But, if you like the tune the way it is, I certainly don't advocate dumbing it down. If you've got the players, try the "hard" version. In any event, keep on composing.

Regards,
-David.
