Dr. Bernhard Ahring was a teacher of mine; in fact he trained me to be a teacher myself. If I am any good at this at all, it is certainly due to his influence. He is also a great music lover.
When he retired from school service shortly after my final exams, I composed this tune for him and played it at his retirement ceremony. Beside using it for similar occasions since then, I also play it each summer round the school building to mark the end of the term.
Feel free to adjust the tempo to your own musical taste. School's out, we're in no hurry.
