THE BORGO PASS (Jig)

The Borgo Pass, made famous in Irishman Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. While he never visited eastern Europe, a branch of my family was from this part of Transylvania back when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Now part of Romania.

The Walls of Jerusalem

If it were possible, yet another 6/8 :!: . I wanted to write a 6/8 which did not halt on the "B" in the 4th bar. So I shaped the melody around the bridge, and worked out to both ends. At the end of the day, as I said, yet another 6/8. Regards. <edited - added some more file formats - viperpiper>

How has this reel turned out in unison playing? Esp. 4th part. Might be very interesting with "spots" of harmony on the long notes after the fast runs.

The last two notes of the 7th bar are even to give a more melodic sense to the ending. Quite a few pipe music settings defaults to rhythm over melody. Many Scottish songs which are also played as pipe tunes get over-pointed, and no longer fit the words. I am always mindful of a 2-4 competition years...
