No tune needed... just opinions

Post by Rick » Tue Sep 29, 2009 4:38 am

(It does say Tune Requests/Discussions)

I have the 48th Highlanders album Amazing Grace. On it they have a Robert Burns medley. Within the medley is the tune: Niel Gow's Farewell to Whiskey.

Anyone know why this tune is in a Robert Burns medley?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

This is a GUESS only - I have heard this tune played many times at Robbie Burns Nights when the piper plays out the Haggis after the Address. Maybe it has become 'traditional' to play it then.
Our PM is ex-48th and he usually plays it to pipe out the Haggis.
