Piobmaster on Win 7 ??

Post by TownPiper » Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:07 am

Just bought a new machine running Win 7. Had Pio on the old XP machine but it doesn't seem to want to run on the new one. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks and Good Piping to you

Try compatablity mode.

If you have 7 pro or ultimate you can run in xp compatability mode. Read more here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... fault.aspx
We have had a lot of luck with windows 7 here at work, but aside from my computer we run no piping software.

I would like to know what you find out as I will probably be installing 7 on my home computer after the first of the year (unless it is not compatible with my bww reader, then what's the point of having a computer?

Thanks J--

My machine has Win 7 Home premium, so to run XP mode, there's an upgrade that MS wants you to buy. It may be worth it, I don't know. It seems that Microsoft wants to get in your pocket any way they can.

Thanks

J- One other thing

No problem installing .bww on Win 7, but you have to use your BWW program to open any .bmw file you have. I like to use .pio because it's easier to enter tunes and you can slow the replay down for practice.

I guess I will be able to upgrade. You can slow down tunes in Bagpipe writer by the way, if you open a tune and go to configure, and then change the tempo in play options. It is not pretty, but it works.

Successfully loaded the trial version of Pio on my machine from their website. Seems to work fine. Looks like the problem was my own techno-stupidity. Tried to copy the program from my old machine, but it didn't work. So my advice is if you buy Pio, get the CD version..

Just figured it out. Had the setup program in an obscure place. Working fine.
