Amazing Grace Concert/Band Setting

Post by lawsonpipes » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:21 pm

Hi Guys,

I have been asked by a group to accompany them playing amazing grace. I am hoping people can point me in the right direction regarding either my tuning or their tuning/sheet music. How do you play alongside
- keyboard
- sax
- guitar
- clarinet

Is there some sheet music that they play? What is my best bet?

Any help would be muchly appreciated, or sheet music for myself/the band. (I can play the standard amazing grace, but it is with the other instruments that I am getting caught up!)

uist get to gether and figure things out, tempos and such... my recomendation is that you talk tro the other musicians and find out if they have played with a piper before, where there tuning at etc etc etc... Concert pitch is generally accepted to be 440Hz, the standard Low A is averaging at about 476 Hz... see the problem? as for music, do what i do for funerals, play how it feels, (in keeping with the rest of the "band" of course)

Yeah I couldn't even get my A to tune below 460 with my current chanter and reed :(
