protocol

Post by cdn » Thu Oct 18, 2018 7:16 pm

not sure if this is the proper place to pose this question, but here goes...
I play in a small, recreational pipeband. We play for various Remembrance Day events and one of our pipers (who plays with an RCMP band) claims that band members should remove their uniform headgear during the act of remembrance, last post, lament, etc. We have never done this before, and I never notice other groups, in uniform, doing so.
Any one know what the correct protocol is?
Thanks

As an ex Army Piper and Civilian Pipe Major. The correct protocol is for everyone to stand to attention. The D/M TO Salute, or if you do not have a D/M then the P/M Salutes. Your informant is TOTALLY wrong.

Thank you. That’s what I thought, but as a peon I didn't want to insist.
